Cavite town turns over free tablets to junior, senior high school students

Just before the start of the new school year disrupted by the pandemic, Noveleta town in this province distributed tablet PCs to all junior and senior high school students here.

Mayor Dino Reyes Chua led the simple ceremony held Wednesday, September 23, at Noveleta National High School in Barangay San Rafael II, turning over 3,000 tablets to Department of Education District Supervisor Arnel Zapanta.

The tablets, which include LTE-capable Smart SIM cards for internet access, will be given free to the students of Noveleta National High School and Noveleta Senior High School.

Because of the persisting coronavirus pandemic, the school year which will begin October 5, will introduce blended learning methods that combine modular and online approaches.

“This is a big dream for us Noveletenos. Maliit na bayan, ngunit may malaking pangarap na magkaroon ng maunlad na bayan at maunlad na mamamayan.” Chua said.

The project was in partnership with Smart PLDT.

Recently, Chua also launched the installation of free Wi-Fi hotspots in all of the Noveleta’s 16 barangay halls, 7 public grade schools, 1 junior high school and 1 senior high school, some covered courts and the municipal. – Rappler.com
