2 Cebu universities achieve 100% passing rate in Physician Licensure Exam
The Cebu Institute of Medicine is also deemed as the top performing school in the November 2020 exam

Two schools in Cebu – the Cebu Institute of Medicine (CIM) and the University of Cebu School of Medicine (UCSM) – achieved a 100% passing rate in the November 2020 Physician Licensure Examination.

The Professional Regulation Commission released the list of passers and performance of schools early Thursday, November 26.

The PRC deemed CIM as the best performing school with all 138 of its examinees passing the November 2020 exam.

CIM was founded in 1957 and has been among the top performing medical schools in the Philippines, producing topnotchers in previous board exams.

UCSM had 37 takers this November, and all passed the exam as well.

UCSM was founded in 2015, when the university opened its first medical center in Mandaue City. The November 2020 exam passers represent its first batch of medical school graduates and exam takers.

University of Cebu chancellor Candice Gotianuy said in a text message to Rappler that she was proud of the successful board passers, especially as they represent UCSM’s first batch of graduates.

“We worked extremely hard for this day and our first batch delivered,” Gotianuy said.

“It’s no easy task for the pioneering batch to have a 100% passing percentage, but they did it. We thank the deans, the faculty, and the graduate themselves for this impressive feat,” she added.

Gotianuy said this batch would “set the standard” for the other classes to follow. “We hope to continue to excel.”

Six other schools achieved a 100% passing rate:

  • Mariano Marcos State University-Batac, 7
  • Metropolitan Medical Center College of Arts, Science & Technology, 5
  • New Era University, 12
  • St Paul University-Tuguegarao, 4
  • San Pedro College-Davao City, 10
  • St Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine-William H. Quasha, 73
