WATCH: Classroom in the Samar mountains

Living in a remote area proves to be a daunting challenge for some college students in Barangay Pamamas-an, Motiong, Samar, as online classes begin in August. They have to trek to the mountains every day just to get an internet signal.

In this video, 21-year-old Jessa Mae Gabiana walks us through their daily journey to show us her classroom in the mountains. She also shows us how students in the provinces are struggling and coping with distance learning.

Those who would like to help Jessa Mae Gabiana may course donations through The Wagi Project (TWP), a local advocacy group that crowdfunds laptops or other gadgets for students. Donations may be sent to TWP's founder Sheila Marie Borongan through the following bank details:

BDO: 0015 1011 0567
BPI: 9550 0126 23
GCash: 0917 729 1030
