Duterte welcomes Robredo’s drive-through vaccination effort – Palace

Malacañang said President Rodrigo Duterte supports the drive-through coronavirus vaccination project by Vice President Leni Robredo.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said on Monday, June 28, that Duterte has always been supportive of similar drive-through initiatives, as these would augment the government’s ongoing COVID-19 immunization program.

Robredo’s Vaccine Express had its pilot run in Manila City on June 22 and she plans to bring the project to other interested local government units.

“So hindi po nagbabago ang posisyon ng Presidente dahil ito po ay isang pamamaraan na mapabigay sa ating kababayan ‘yung bakuna na procured by the Duterte administration. We welcome of course this initiative after the initiative of Imus [local government in Cavite],” said Roque.

Philippines receives 1 million more Sinovac doses

The Philippines received another shipment of one million Sinovac doses on Monday morning, June 28, bringing the total number of doses received from the Chinese drug firm to 12 million.

The 12 million doses received since February 28 include one million donated doses and 900,000 procured by local governments and the private sector. The remaining 10.1 million were procured by the national government.

The latest batch of vaccine doses is also the fifth to arrive in the country in June. The Philippines has received 6.5 million doses of Sinovac’s CoronaVac for the month.

The vaccines were received at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport by vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. and Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.

Philippines gets its first Moderna vaccine doses

The Philippines received its first shipment of Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine on Sunday, June 27, marking the entry of a fifth shot that will be widely used in the government’s immunization drive against COVID-19.

An initial 249,600 Moderna doses arrived at around 11 pm at Terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Philippines’ COVID-19 cases now at 1,397,992

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 6,096 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, June 27, bringing the total caseload of the Philippines to 1,397,992.

The number of deaths climbed to 24,372, after 128 more deaths were reported.

DOH data showed that 52,570 of the country’s 1.39 million total cases are active. 

Meanwhile, the Philippines now has 1,321,050 recoveries after 6,912 more people recovered.

Philippines’ COVID-19 cases now at 1,391,911

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 6,871 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, June 26, pushing the total caseload of the Philippines to 1,391,911. Of the total cases, 3.8% or 53,447 are active.

The Philippines also now has 24,244 recorded deaths due to the disease after the DOH reported 92 new deaths. Meanwhile, recoveries are up by 8,720, bringing the total recovered cases to 1,314,220.

The DOH said three labs were not able to submit data.

Two million more Sinovac vaccines arrive in the Philippines

The Philippines received two million more doses of Sinovac’s COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday, June 24, marking the 10th shipment of vaccines procured by the government from the Chinese drug firm.

The shipment includes 1.6 million doses procured by the national government and 400,000 purchased by IP Biotech for Manila City. 

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr said on Thursday morning that the bulk of the recent delivery would be allocated for provinces seeing an increase in cases over the past few weeks. Local officials from the Visayas and Mindanao have pleaded with the national government to give them more vaccine doses as they battle new outbreaks of COVID-19.
