PH logs 2,053 COVID-19 cases, total now at 375,180

The Philippines now has 375,180 confirmed COVID-19 cases after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 2,053 cases on Wednesday, October 28.

The new daily figure, however, was only based on 141 laboratories out of 152 licensed testing hubs.

The DOH reported 61 new deaths due to the coronavirus disease, bringing the death toll to 7,114, while recoveries are up by 540, raising total recoveries to 329,111.

Of the total cases, 38,955 are active.

Zero new COVID-19 cases for Lapu-Lapu City for the 4th time

As of Tuesday, October 27, Lapu-Lapu City had logged in zero new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) for the 4th time since the outbreak began.

Grace Carungay, Lapu-Lapu’s Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit head, said all 296 swab samples taken recently tested negative.

Home to an international airport, several export and economic processing zones, beach resorts, and commercial centers, Lapu-Lapu has a population of about 470,000. It has recorded 2,444 total coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, with at least 2,257 recoveries and 117 deaths, and 70 active cases.

The Philippines now has 373,144 confirmed COVID-19 cases after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 1,524 cases on Tuesday, October 27.

The new daily figure, however, was only based on 137 laboratories out of 152 licensed testing hubs.

The DOH reported 14 new deaths due to the coronavirus disease, bringing the death toll to 7,053, while recoveries are up by 353, raising total recoveries to 328,602.

Of the total cases, 37,489 are active.

Bacolod records lowest number of COVID-19 cases since July

Bacolod City logged only two new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, October 27, City Administrator Em Ang said.

“This is the lowest daily record since July 16. We are definitely on track to significantly reduce the case count versus last month,” she said, as she is “hoping and praying to God that this continues.”

She also reminded residents to wear masks, wash their hands, practice physical distancing, and avoid crowds.
