In a video posted on the Facebook page of the city’s Public Information Office, Lim said he contracted the virus from a close contact who also tested positive for COVID-19.
Lim placed himself in self-quarantine and did an antigen test, then an RT-PCR test. His test result came back positive on Tuesday afternoon.
Lim said he is experiencing only mild symptoms, attributing this to him being fully vaccinated. The mayor received his first dose on April 8 and his second on May 5.
Lim urged the public to follow health protocols and get vaccinated once scheduled to do so. Local governments are currently vaccinating people under the A1, A2, and A3 priority groups.
