3 die in road crashes in Ilocos provinces

BAGUIO, Philippines – Last Friday, May 24,  at the bend of the national highway along Poblacion East in San Ildefonso town in La Union, a motorcycle was being trailed by a huge beer delivery truck when the rider lost control, wriggled like a top, fell on the road. The head of the fallen rider was on the path of one of the tires of the huge trailer.

But the truck driver, later identified as Ferdinand T. Garcia of Sto. Domingo town and working for the RQC Company, was able to deftly maneuver the truck and avoid the driver and the bike. 

The CCTV shared by a local radio station has since been shared more than 2,000 times. 

At least 3 people in the North were not as fortunate during the weekend. 

Last Monday, May 27, a mother and son were killed in Barangay Caruan, Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte when a Mitsubishi Montero driven by a tourist hit an electric post and a little store selling sea salt and then the mother who was walking on the roadside.

Killed were Mary Anne Resurrecion and her ten-month-old daughter. The SUV driver, Ricky de Leon, a seaman from Pampanga, was with his family but they were only slightly injured. 

Last Sunday morning, May 26, Melody Tubaña Princena, 32, was driving her gray Rusi motorcycle when a Toyota Hi-Ace driven by Ferdinand Dulan Reymundo hit them.

Princena was brought to the Seares Hospital but she died while undergoing emergency operation.

Meanwhile, two barangay SK chairmen were injured when they went on a joyride in Santa Cruz, Ilocos Sur last Tuesday, May 28,

Alexis Wasigen Ragudo, the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chair of Barangay Bugbuga, was driving his Mio Sporty motorcycle with Barangay Daligan SK chair Raffy Bacagan Manang. They were cruising along barangay Bacsayan barangay when Ragudo sped and lost control of his bike. The two sustained injuries all over their bodies and were brought to the Ilocos Sur District Hospital in Sta Lucia town. – Rappler.com
