DOCUMENT: PH, NDF joint statement on the 2nd round of talks

MANILA, Philppines – The Philippine government and the communist National Democratic Front (NDF) signed on Sunday, October 9, a joint statement approving common frameworks and outlines to guide discussions on socio-economic reforms, political and constitutional reforms, and the end of hostilities and disposition of forces.

The joint statement also includes commitments to enforce a joint bilateral ceasefire that is more stable that the current unilateral ceasefires, and to secure the release of 434 NDF detainees through a general amnesty proclamation. 

The joint statement is the result of 4 days of negotiations in Norway from October 6 to 9.
