A pre-dawn magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck Occidental Mindoro on Saturday, October 17, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported in a bulletin.

Phivolcs said that the quake, which was tectonic in origin, struck at 4:06 am at a depth of 33 kilometers. The epicenter was located in the municipality of Looc.
