Robredo tops SWS survey, jumps 7 points

MANILA, Philippines – Camarines Sur 3rd District Rep Leni Robredo has caught up with Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr in the vice presidential race, an SWS survey revealed Monday, April 25.

Robredo, the Liberal Party’s bet for the post, leapt 7 percentage points from the previous SWS survey to 26%, placing her in a tie with Marcos, who has a preference rating of 25%.

In third place was Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, whose preference rating fell to 18%, followed by Senators Alan Peter Cayetano (16%), Antonio Trillanes IV (5%), and Gregorio Honasan II (2%).

The results were first released in BusinessWorld newspaper. The survey, conducted April 18 to 20 among 1,800 registered voters nationwide, had an error margin of +/-2%, SWS said. 

It was held after the two vice presidential debates: the Commission on Elections-sanctioned PiliPinas Debate hosted by CNN Philippines and BusinessMirror on April 10, and the ABS-CBN Harapan ng Bise debate on April 17.

In the first debate, all vice presidential hopefuls were present, while Marcos and Honasan were absent in the ABS-CBN-organized face-off.

Meanwhile, in the race for the Senate, reelectionist senators Franklin Drilon and Vicente Sotto III lead the SWS survey’s “magic circle.”

Saranggani Representative Manny Pacquiao, meanwhile, placed third in the survey, which was conducted after his bout against Timothy Bradley Jr in Las Vegas.

Rounding up the top choices are Francis Pangilinan (4), Panfilo Lacson, Juan Miguel Zubiri (tied at 5-6), Risa Hontiveros, Leila De Lima, Joel Villanueva (tied at 7-9), Sergio Osmeña III (10), Richard Gordon (11), Ralph Recto and Sherwin Gatchalian (12-13).

The same survey showed Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte leading in the presidential survey. – Rappler.com
