MANILA, Philippines – Calling all teachers!
Will you be serving as a member of the Board of Elections Inspectors (BEI)? Are you still confused with your roles and tasks? Got questions that need answers? We got you!
To ensure the smooth conduct of the 2016 elections, Rappler and the Department of Education partnered to host a webinar for public school teachers who will serve as chairpersons and members of the BEI.
The webinar aimed to prepare the public school teachers and reinforce their knowledge of the Automated Election System (AES). Italso addressed related issues and concerns, specifically the Supreme Court decision on the issuance of voting receipts and the recent amendments to the initial instructions given to them.
The seminar was held on May 3 at the Rappler office in Pasig City, and was broadcasted nationwide via Facebook and the Rappler website.
Commission on Elections representatives and Deped officials were on hand to address election-related queries and clarifications. Teachers who attended the webinar were encouraged to ask questions real-time by tweeting using #PHVoteBEI.
Rappler also introduced the #PHVoteWatch map, an interactive tool to help monitor election-related anomalies using social media. Using this map, even the BEIs will be able to report the problems they encounter while facilitating the elections. – Rappler.com
