15 killed in poll-related events since Jan 10 – PNP
On the last day of the campaign period, 3 people are killed while 6 others are hurt in the town of Jones in Isabela province

MANILA, Philippines – A total of 15 people were killed in election-related events since the start of the campaign period, data released by the Philippine National Police (PNP) showed.

Citing PNP data, GMA News said 15 people were confirmed killed since January 10, 2016. The news report said PNP released the data in a media briefing held on Sunday, May 8.

The PNP said 146 violent incidents were recorded nationwide from January 10 to May 8, according to GMA News. Of these incidents, 28 have been related to elections, with 15 fatalities and 9 injured victims.

During the last day of the campaign period on Saturday, May 7, 3 people died while 6 others were hurt in the town of Jones in Isabela province. (READ: Attacks in Isabela and Cagayan kill 3, injure 6)

The same reportsaid 5 of the validated election-related incidents were reported in Central Luzon, 4 each in Central Visayas, Cagayan Valley and Calabarzon.

Three of these election-related incidents happened in Ilocos Region, two each in Northern Mindanao and Metro Manila as well as one each in Zamboanga Peninsula, Bicol region, Soccsksargen and Cordillera Administrative Region, according to the PNP as quoted by GMA. – Rappler.com
