School in Sulu first to transmit election results

MANILA, Philippines – Of the 92,509 local precincts in the 2016 elections, the first precinct to transmit was in Kajatian Elementary School in the town of Indanan, Sulu. It transmitted to the transparency server at 5:01 pm.

It was followed closely by a school in Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte which transmitted a second later.

This precinct is part of the first batch of results available from the transparency server. This first batch of results contains over 100 precincts, less than 1% of all the precincts nationwide.

In the 2010 elections, the first precinct that transmitted was from the town of Datu Odin Sinsuat in Maguindanao at 5:42 pm. Before midnight, 63.6% of all precincts had transmitted. 24 hours after the polls closed, 88% had transmitted. It took an additional 24 hours before it reached the 90%, with very few precincts following afterwards.

In the 2013 elections, the transmission rate reached 69% within 24 hours, much lower than in 2010, and was achieved within 8 hours in 2010.

The Comelec is targeting 100% transmission this year.
