Complaints filed vs Abra mayoral bet for slapping campaigners
The 3 complainants accuse former Bangued mayor Ryan Luna of slapping them as they campaigned for reelectionist Mayor Dominick Valera

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – Three residents of Bangued, Abra, have filed a complaint against a mayoral bet in their town for allegedly slapping them for no reason.

The 3 complainants told police that former Bangued mayor Ryan Luna, who is running again for town mayor in the May elections, slapped them while they campaigned in front of the house of Bangbanagar Barangay Chairman Loreno Laureta.

The 3 – Drexell Festejo Bermudez, 40; Rolly Benosa Bernardez, 46; and Jayrome Berras Bello, 32 – were campaigning for Luna’s rival, reelectionist Mayor Dominick Valera.

Bello claimed that the former mayor took his sling bag which contained his phone.

Luna was a reelectionist mayor when he was ordered arrested for the 2007 killing of Brenda Crisologo – the wife of Tineg town mayor Edward Crisologo – in April 2013. He posted bail before the campaign season for the 2016 elections and ran, but lost, in the Abra vice gubernatorial race that year. – Rappler.com
