Chevylle V Fariñas received the majority vote in the city of Laoag. According to the City Certificate of Canvass, Chevylle got 37,513 votes from the 56,806 locals who voted in the city’s 112 clustered precincts on Monday, May 13.

Chevylle had a lead of 21,324 votes over Roger C Fariñas, her husband’s uncle. Chevylle also won over mayoral bet Cesar Ventura. Former Ilocos Norte Gov Michael Keon, who withdrew from the mayoral race last April 2, still received 352 votes considered “stray votes” by the Commission on Elections.

Winning the vice mayoral race is Chevylle’s husband, former mayor Michael Fariñas. Michael received a lead of 10,270 votes over Michel Kristian Ablan. The third vice mayoral bet, Rey Carlos Fariñas who also withdrew his candidacy to give way to cousin Michael, received 780 votes.

With 77,728 registered voters, the voter turn out for the city of Laoag was at 73%. These results are based on a copy of the Laoag City Certificate of Canvass submitted by Rappler Ambassador Faye Sales.
