MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has set the period of filing of candidacies for the May 13, 2019, midterm elections.
Aspiring bets should file their Certificate of Candidacy (COC) from October 1 to 5, 2018, the Comelec said in Resolution No. 10420 issued on Friday, September 7.
Up for grabs in the 2019 polls are seats in the Senate and the House of Representatives, positions from provincial governors to city/municipal councilors, and from governor and vice governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao to members of its regional legislative assembly.
During the filing period, COCs should be filed in 5 copies from 8 am to 5 pm with the correct Comelec office, according to the elective position being sought.
It should be filed by the aspirant or through a duly authorized representative, said Comelec. The COC should also be sworn to before a notary public or any official authorized to administer an oath, except Comelec officials and employees.
COCs filed by mail, email, or fax will not be accepted. There will be no filing fee, but a P30 documentary stamp should be attached to the original copy of the COC.
Party-list groups should submit their Certificate of Nomination – containing their list of nominees for the party-list elections – and the nominees' Certificate of Acceptance of Nomination before the Comelec law department also from October 1 to 5. – Rappler.com
