After Senator Bong Go filed his certificate of candidacy for vice president on Saturday, October 2, President Rodrigo Duterte announced his retirement from politics.
Both moves were a surprise to those watching, as Duterte had previously accepted PDP-Laban’s nomination for vice president. Go, on the other hand, was expected to run for president.
