WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Seventy-seven national positions will be up for grabs in the 2022 Philippine elections. These include 1 president, 1 vice president, 12 senators, and 63 party-list representatives.

Aspirants for these posts will make their bids official when they file their certificates of candidacy (COCs) from October 1 to 8, 2021.

The Commission on Elections has moved the venue for the COC filing from the Comelec central office in Intramuros, Manila, to the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila in Pasay City, to be able to enforce physical distancing during the weeklong event.

Total number of COC filers for national positions

There were a total of 572 certificates of candidacy (COC) filed for national positions from October 1 to 8, according to the Commission on Elections.

The following are the number of COCs filed for each national position:

97 – Presidential aspirants
29 – Vice presidential aspirants
176 – Senatorial aspirants
270 – Party-list groups

Former Binibining Pilipinas Shamcey Supsup nominated by ARTE party-list group

Architect and former beauty queen Shamcey Supsup is seeking a seat in congress under a new party advocating for rights of workers in the fashion, entertainment, and creative sectors.

Shamcey filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) as the first nominee of the ARTE (Advocates for Retail and Fashion, Textile and Tradition, Events and Entertainment and the Creative Sector) party list.
