PDP-Laban, the political party of President Rodrigo Duterte, is holding its National Council Meeting in Cebu City on Monday, May 31.
The meeting comes after a squabble between PDP-Laban acting president Manny Pacquiao and Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, the party’s vice chairman, on whether the meeting should push through.
Duterte eventually directed Cusi “to organize, convene, and preside over the council meeting,” said Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Sunday, May 30.
Pacquiao opposed the national council meeting called by Cusi, saying any such assembly should be approved by both the party president and party chairman.
The meeting starts at 1 pm and is set to gather national members and local allies in Cebu. It is taking place at the Montebello Hotel and is expected to end by 3 pm.
A press conference is also scheduled during the meeting.
