MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – An improvised explosive device (IED) exploded inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP)'s Maximum Security Compound on Friday, October 11.
"An explosion has occurred at quadrant 4, Maxsecom (Maximum Security Compound), NBP," the police report from Taguig police read. The explosion occurred at around 10 am.
After the explosion, police deployed explosive and ordnance and K9 teams to the area.
During the validation, they found in the area 2 hand grenades and 2 blasting caps inside shanties beside the explosion site.
