Firefighters say they had difficulty entering the house because of its grills and thick windows

Five people died, while 3 others were injured, when a fire razed a house inside a posh subdivision in Quezon City just after midnight Saturday, March 20.

A report by GMA News said the fatalities, as well as, those injured were members of the Yu family, owners of the house which burned inside Corinthian Gardens in Barangay Ugong Norte, Quezon City.

The same report quoted Bureau of Fire Protection-Quezon City (BFP-QC) chief of operations Fire Chief Inspector Joseph Del Mundo as saying his team could not immediately enter the house because it was secured by grills and thick windows.

The BFP-QC said the fire broke out around 1 am and was put out at 5:25 am.

Initial estimates by the fire bureau pegged the damage at P60 million.

Since March is Fire Prevention Month, the BFP has constantly reminded the public to be conscious of their safety. – Rappler.com
