#HabagatPH: Marikina River alarm raised to level 1

MANILA, Philippines – Monsoon rains enhanced by Typhoon Jose (Halong) prompted Marikina City officials to raise the first alarm over the Marikina River on Monday, August 4.

According to the Marikina City Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office, the river is under first alarm as it reached 15 meters Monday evening.

The city's Public Information Office also said 6 out of 8 floodgates have been opened. 

Local disaster officials advised Marikina residents to follow the city's water level monitoring for safety.

Monsoon rains affected parts of Luzon on Monday night, and caused floods and heavy traffic in Metro Manila's main roads.
