The appointment comes in the wake of the death of the late Camarines Sur 1st District Representative Marissa Andaya last July

Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano has been designated as legislative caretaker of the 1st District of Camarines Sur in the House of Representatives.

Cayetano’s designation was formalized during the House plenary session on Wednesday, September 2.

Deputy Majority Leader Wilter Wee Palma II made the motion to name Cayetano, who represents Taguig City-Pateros 1st District in Congress, as caretaker following the death of the late Camarines Sur 1st District Representative Marissa Andaya.

“Mr Speaker, in the interest of the people of the 1st District of Camarines Sur, I move that we designate the Speaker, Alan Peter “Campañero” S Cayetano, as the legislative caretaker of the 1st District of Camarines Sur,” Palma said.

The plenary adopted the motion without objections.

Andaya died of cancer on July 5, ending her 7-year battle with the disease.

She was the wife of former House majority leader Rolando Andaya Jr, whom the congresswoman had succeeded in the 18th Congress. – Rappler.com
