IATF approves Physician Licensure Examination in September

The government’s coronavirus task force has approved the holding of the Physician Licensure Examination in September.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said on Friday, July 24, that this was discussed at the 58th meeting of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) held the day before.

“The examination, which is Part II of the testing activities for the March 2020 Physician Licensure Examination, is tentatively scheduled on September 20 and 21, 2020,” Roque said.

“The conduct of the examination will be held under observance of the strict protocols set by the Department of Health,” he added. 

The IATF made the decision as coronavirus cases in the country continued to spike. The Philippines recorded 2,200 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, July 23, bringing the total to 74,390.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Medicine had earlier said that it planned to reschedule the second part of the postponed March 2020 exam to November, instead of September.

Nearly half of the 1,485 examinees had earlier signed a letter asking the PRC to push through with the September schedule. – Rappler.com
