Rappler Talk: Forensic expert on Dacera case – When is it rape?
Rappler reporter Rambo Talabong talks to forensic pathologist Raquel Fortun on the Christine Dacera case

As the facts of the case of flight attendant Christine Dacera continue to unfold, more questions arise. The police on January 4 released incomplete information when they declared Dacera as a victim of rape and homicide, and then proceeded to take in custody the suspects.

Dacera’s family, in a press conference on January 5, said they saw the autopsy report by police Major Michael Nick Sarmiento which declared that Dacera died of “ruptured aortic aneurysm” or the tearing of the aorta – which does not confirm the police’s suspicions.

The development further caused confusion and raised more questions. Was it rape? What would prove it to be rape?

Rappler police reporter Rambo Talabong talks to forensic pathologist Raquel Fortun about the facts of Dacera’s case so far, digging into the specifics of the medico-legal report.

Fortun also discusses how the police has failed to utilize forensics to unearth the truth about Dacera’s death.
