As the Philippines sets its lockdown gears up again to control the rise of new coronavirus cases, one question comes to mind: Where is the ayuda (aid) for all?
In this Rappler Talk, House reporter Rambo Talabong speaks with Marikina 2nd District Representative and economist Stella Quimbo, who is one of the main proponents of the bill proposing aid for all Filipinos, the Bayanihan 3.
The bill seeks to give P2,000 to all Filipinos, as well as a grocery list of aid packages for sectors hard hit by the pandemic.
So far, the measure has been delayed at the Senate and has not been met with all-out support from the Palace. Senators and economic managers argue that there is no source of funding for the massive aid bill.
House proponents, however, have their own calculations. We ask Quimbo about them.
