Lapu-Lapu City will implement a weeklong liquor and karaoke ban effective 12 midnight on Saturday, February 20.
Lapu-Lapu Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan announced this in a press briefing on Friday, February 19.
In the city’s latest Executive Order, sporting events, cockfighting events, internet cafes, non-essential mass gatherings are also temporarily suspended.
“Hugot nato ipatuman ang curfew gikan sa 10 sa gabie hangtud sa alas 5 sa buntag, diin gidili ang tanan magtikawtikaw, gawas na lang mga empleyado nga magtrabaho niining mga orasa,” said Chan.
(We will strictly implement the curfew from 10 in the evening until 5 in the morning, where everyone is not allowed to go out, except if they are employees who work in these hours)
Chan believes that this will help combat the increase of COVID-19 cases in the city, especially after receiving information on a COVID-19 “mutation of concern” detected in Cebu City.
The mayor will meet with his counterparts from Cebu City and Mandaue on a uniform executive order that will respond to the spike in coronavirus cases.
Mandaue City also ordered a liquor ban effective immediately on Saturday. Cebu City has implemented a ban on public drinking. – Rappler.com
