Riding-in-tandem gunmen kill businesswoman in Ilocos Sur

Motorcycle-riding gunmen killed a businesswoman in Cabugao town in Ilocos Sur on Wednesday, July 29.

CCTV footage recorded the attack on 46-year-old entrepreneur Eileen Joy Paat Paligutan, who had just got into her vehicle at the parking lot of a construction store at Barangay Baclig in Cabugao, when the incident happened.

According to the investigating officer, Police Corporal Andres Mondero, the assailants were waiting for Paligutan, and when she boarded her vehicle, one of the men walked to her vehicle, stood at the driver side, and shot her repeatedly. 

The assassins then fled on their motorcycle.

Paligutan was brought first to the Pira Clinic and Hospital and then at the Northside Doctor’s Hospital where she later died. 

Mondero said that a .45 caliber pistol was used based on the slugs found on the scene. 

Mondero said that according to their investigation, the murder could stem from a land dispute. 

The incident happened weeks after a 15-year-old girl was shot dead in the same town by riding-in-tandem gunmen. The girl had just filed a molestation complaint against a cop from a neighboring town when she was killed on July 12. – Rappler.com
