Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Sunday, August 15, announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement on Sunday night, Moreno said he was experiencing symptoms and was on his way to Sta. Ana Hospital.

“Nakararamdam ako ng kaunting ubo, kaunting sipon, masakit ang aking katawan ngayon (I have a minor cough, colds, and body pains),” he said.

Manila Public Information Office chief Julius Leonen told Rappler that Moreno will remain in charge of the city government.

“Kapit lang, tuloy ang buhay, tuloy pa rin ang gobyerno sa Maynila,” Moreno said. “Umasa tayo, magtiwala tayo sa Diyos, makararaos din tayo.”

Moreno’s test result comes exactly a week after Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna also tested positive for COVID-19 on August 8.
