MILF to submit Mamasapano report to Malaysia first

COTABATO CITY, Philippines – The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) will submit to Malaysia first the results of its investigation into the bloody Mamasapano clash.

This was revealed by MILF first vice chairman Ghazali Jafaar in an interview with reporters at Camp Darapanan on Wednesday, February 25.

"We will be submitting to the facilitator. That is in accordance with the protocols in the peace process. It's been done in the past. Sa mga nakaraan, 'pag may proposal ang GPH, pinapadala ito sa facilitator, in this case, Malaysian government. I-provide sa amin ito at kung meron kaming proposal...sinasagot namin through the facilitator," Jaafar said.

(In the past, when the Philippine government has a proposal, it is sent to the facilitator, in this case, the Malaysian government. It will be provided to us. And then if we have a proposal...we respond through the facilitator.)

He said these are the initial findings. "Maaring doon sa report, may idadagdag pa kami dito (We may add more to the report)."

The report was prepared by the 7-man special investigating team formed by the MILF central committee. The team was headed by an ulama, a religious leader.

The various bodies investigating the clash, including the Senate, have been waiting for the MILF's input to wrap up their work.

The anti-terrorist operation led to the deaths of 65 persons, including 44 police commandos, 18 MILF fighters, and 3 civilians. – Rappler.com
