Nearly P20-million worth of marijuana bricks and leaves with fruiting tops were seized on Thursday, February 18, by authorities during an anti-illegal drugs operations in Tarlac.

Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon, director of the Police Regional Office-Central Luzon, said 6 persons were arrested, while confiscated were of 163 bricks of presumed dried marijuana leaves weighing approximately 163 kgs and with estimated street value of P20 million.

De Leon said those involved in the operation were personnel of the Police Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Tarlac Provincial Police Office, PDEA and other police operatives.

Also seized were 5 pieces P1,000 cash with UV dust powder used as buy bust money, together with 145 pieces of boodle money, a cellular phone used in the transaction, a Toyota Altis with plate number BTK777; a Vivo cellphone and 100 rounds of caliber 5.56 ammunition.

Police identified those arrested as high-value drug personalities Marlon Miranda and Joey Palaeyan, both residents of Bulanao, Tabuk, Kalinga Province; Freddie Letta, of 2456 Pasig Line St, Sta Ana, Manila; Carl Andrei Maico of Diliman, Quezon City; Via Jean Ortiga, of San Isidro, Northern Samar, and Lorraine Fulgencio, a resident of Project 4, Quezon City.

They were charged with violations Section 5 and Section 11 of Article II of RA 9165, Dangerous Drugs law. – Rappler.com
