MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – The camp of alleged pork barrel mastermind Janet Lim Napoles on Thursday, May 22, said they would be unable to submit her affidavit as promised because of her medical woes.
“Siyempre nagkasakit siya, how can she look at the documents? Hindi na kami papayagan ng doctors,” Napoles' counsel Bruce Rivera said. (Mrs Napoles is sick, how can she look at the documents? Her doctors won’t let us.)
Almost a month after undergoing a complete hysterectomy at the Ospital ng Makati (OsMak or Makati Hospital), doctors discovered “abnormal vaginal bleeding.” The bleeding was discovered during a last-minute check-up on the controversial figure.

The court hearing Napoles’ serious illegal detention case earlier ordered she be brought back to her detention center in Laguna on or before Friday, May 23. But the bleeding has prompted doctors to withdraw Napoles’ discharge order.
Her doctors have since ordered complete bed rest.
In an interview with reporters, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said she would ask for an extension until Monday, May 26, to submit the affidavit.
Senator TG Guingona, chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon committee formally granted De Lima's request, adding that it was a "valid reason."

Rivera told Rappler doctors have since advised her team of lawyers to let her rest. “Kasi kami, pinapagalitan na kami. We are trying to finish [the affidavit] pero nagkaroon ng bleeding,” he said. (We’ve been scolded. We are trying to finish the affidavit but there was bleeding.)
Napoles originally had until Thursday, May 22, to complete the affidavit meant to accompany a signed list of lawmakers allegedly involved in the pork barrel scam.
But, Rivera noted, their ability to finish the affidavit relies heavily on Napoles’ medical condition.
Napoles’ bleeding has prompted her team to file an urgent motion, asking presiding Judge Elmo Alameda to recall the order compelling her return to Fort Sto Domingo in Laguna. Alameda will hear the motion on Friday, May 23.
Prior to being moved to OsMak to remove a mass in her uterus, Napoles was detained at the Laguna camp for serious illegal detention charges filed by former aide turned scam whistleblower Benhur Luy.
Napoles and her brother, Reynald Lim, allegedly detained Luy from December 2012 to March 2013. Napoles surrendered late August 2013, while Lim remains at large. – Rappler.com
