No college entrance exam in DLSU for academic year 2021-2022 due to pandemic

De La Salle University (DLSU) will not administer college entrance exam for incoming freshmen for the academic year 2021-2022 due to the continuing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement sent to media on Monday, January 4, DLSU said that freshmen admission will be based on an applicant’s high school academic records and other criteria, such as recommendations, and class rank.

The DLSU also announced that it has opened 13 new degree programs for freshmen in their Br Andrew Gonzalez College of Education, College of Science, College of Liberal Arts, and Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business.

Students taking the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) strand can apply to the following programs:

• Animal Biology;
• Biology major in Medical Biology;
• Biology major in Systematics and Ecology;
• BS in Biology major in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology;
• BS in Chemistry major in Food Science.

Meanwhile, those taking the humanities and social sciences (HUMSS) strand, may consider the following programs:

• Philippine Studies major in Filipino Internet Studies;
• Sports Studies;
• Literature major in Creative Writing;
• Literature major in Literary and Cultural Studies;
• AB in Sociology;
• AB in English Language Studies;
• Bachelor in Human Services.

Students taking the accountancy, business, and management strand may apply to the new program BS in Business Management with specialization in Business Analytics exclusively offered at DLSU Laguna Campus.

Students may apply through DLSU’s online application facility available on its website. Deadline for applications is on February 15.

DLSU joins other universities that have canceled their entrance examinations for the next school year due to the pandemic. Ateneo de Manila University and the University of Santo Tomas canceled their exams in September and August, respectively.  Meanwhile, University of the Philippines in October announced that it will not administer UPCAT (University of the Philippines College Admission Test) 2021.
