The dialysis center as well as some wards of James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital will be closed for disinfection

At least 52 personnel of a local hospital here went into quarantine on Monday, August 17, after being exposed to a dialysis patient who was found positive for COVID-19.

James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital (JLGMH) chief of hospital Jewel Manuel said 20 of their doctors and 32 of their nurses and other hospital staff are currently quarantined after being exposed to the patient.

He said the 52 frontliners will be subjected to swab testing and quarantined for 14 days.

The COVID-19 patient came to the hospital for a first dialysis on Thursday, August 13. During the patient’s second dialysis on Saturday, August 15, the patient was swabbed for COVID-19.

The result of the patient’s test came out positive on Monday. The patient is currently isolated at the hospital’s COVID-19 ward.

Aside from the impact on health professionals, two rooms of the hospital’s surgery ward, the medical ward, and the whole dialysis center will be closed for disinfection.

On Monday, the Philippines reported a total of 164,474 coronavirus cases, including 2,681 deaths and 112,759 recoveries. –
