The chief of the Olongapo City Police Office was fired from his post after 4 of his men were arrested for allegedly protecting a shabu laboratory inside the Subic Bay Freeport.
Central Luzon police chief Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon sacked Colonel Randy Arceo from his job, citing command responsibility in the aftermath of the arrest of 4 Olongapo police on Friday, January 15.
De Leon also also ordered the dismantling of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of Olongapo Police Station 2 where the 4 policemen were assigned.
The 4 cops – Lieutenant Reynato Basa, Jr, Corporals Gino Dela Cruz, Edesyr Victor Alipio – and civilian Godfrey Parentela were arrested in connection with the discovery and dismantling of a laboratory used to manufacture illegal drugs.
The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority’s Intelligence and Investigation Office described the laboratory as as a “kitchen-type operation."
During the sting operation, authorities confiscated 300 grams of probable shabu, along with equipment, chemicals and guns, among others. – Rappler.com
