The Philippine government has repatriated more than 3,000 OFWs from the UAE, but many still wait for news of a trip home

Since May 15, the Philippines has banned travelers from the United Arab Emirates over fears of the coronavirus’ Delta variant.

The UAE is host to hundreds of thousands of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), many of whom faced flight cancellations and overstaying woes due to the ban. (READ: OFWs in UAE lament extended travel ban to Philippines)

Government-initiated repatriations are exempt from the ban. The Philippine government has repatriated more than 3,000 on seven flights and counting – but many still wait for news of a trip home.
