A lone gunman kills Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office board secretary Wesley Barayuga

An unknown gunman shot and killed Thursday, July 30, the board secretary of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) who was onboard his vehicle in Mandaluyong City.

Police identified the fatality as Wesley Barayuga. The cops said Barayuga was also a former policeman

The driver of the vehicle, Jojo Gunao, was hurt in the ambush and was rushed to the hospital.

An initial police report said that around 3:30 pm, the victims were aboard a white Mitsubishi Strada, along Malinao St in Barangay Highway Hills, Mandaluyong, when a lone unidentified assailant suddenly appeared and shot them.

Police said Barayuga died on the spot.

The gunman was reportedly wearing a blue maroon short, black jacket and red helmet.

Sources said Barayuga was hired by PCSO Chairman Simeon Anselmo Pinili, himself a retired police general.

Police said they were still investigating the incident.
