An initial police report said that around 3:30 pm, the victims were aboard a white Mitsubishi Strada, along Malinao St in Barangay Highway Hills, Mandaluyong, when a lone unidentified assailant suddenly appeared and shot them.

Police said Barayuga died on the spot.

The gunman was reportedly wearing a blue maroon short, black jacket and red helmet.

Sources said Barayuga was hired by PCSO Chairman Simeon Anselmo Pinili, himself a retired police general.

Police said they were still investigating the incident.
