Soldier killed by NPA on election day

NEGROS ORIENTAL, Philippines - A shooting incident between the Philippine Army and the New People's Army (NPA) left one dead and another wounded on election day, Monday, May 13.

Private first class Aris L. De Imoy was reported via radio as dead to the Negros Oriental PNP Provincial Operations, while private first class Anastasio Aloba Sr survived the shooting. De Imoy and Aloba were both members of the 79th Infantry Batallion.

According to Police Senior Inspector George Batun, the exchange of fires lasted for around 15 minutes. The shooting occurred at a territorial enclave in Brgy Milagrosa, Sta Catalina.
