MANILA, Philippines - Two members of the Marcos family are headed to easy wins in the mid-term polls.

Continuing the "family affair" theme in the race for elected seats, the widow of the toppled dictator Ferdinand Marcos ran for a second 3-year term in Congress, representing the 2nd district of Ilocos Norte, the family bailiwick.

As of 4 am on Tuesday, May 14, initial and unofficial results showed Imelda Marcos garnered 86,433 or over 88% of the total votes cast.

The strongman's only son and namesake Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. is already a senator.

Daughter Imee ran unopposed in her gubernatorial bid in the province, her father's birthplace. Early poll results showed she got 198,453 votes.

For mayoral race in the province's prime city Laoag, Imee is supporting Chevylle Fariñas, the wife of the outgoing mayor Michael Fariñas who, in turn, is running as her vice mayor against Kris Ablan, son of the Fariñas clan's archenemy former Rep Roque Ablan Jr.

Chevylle was leading the mayoral race with 34,589 votes, equivalent to 69% of total votes cast. Her main opponent is her husband's uncle, former Laoag City Mayor Roger Fariñas. Roger garnered 14,863 votes or 29.6%. (READ: Trouble in Laoag: Fariñas vs Fariñas)

Michael was also leading with 29,071 votes, or 59% of total. His cousin Carlos got 19,651 or 39.7% of the votes even if he has already withdrawn his candidacy (READ: Rudy Fariñas's son drops bid vs cousin). - Rappler.com
