Gomez, Abalos re-elected

MANILA, Philippines - Reelectionist Guia Gomez was proclaimed mayor of San Juan City on Tuesday, May 14.

Gomez is the mother of Joseph Victor or JV, son of now mayor-elect Joseph Estrada.

Partial results from the Comelec website showed that Gomez got 28,170 votes.

Gomez is from Partido Magdiwang, which is allied with the United Nationalist Alliance. UNA candidate Ronaldo Zamora was also proclaimed congressman of San Juan City. The Comelec website showed that Zamora got 19,410 votes.

In Mandaluyong, Benhur Abalos of Lakas-CMD was re-elected while his running mate Edward Bartolome of Liberal Party won as vice mayor.

Neptali Gonzalez II won as congressman in the same city.

Partial results from the Comelec website showed Abalos got 62,273 votes, Bartolome 58,679, Gonzalez 75,340. -
