Edu Manzano files COC for congressman of San Juan
MANILA, Philippines – Actor Edu Manzano will again throw his hat into the political ring, this time running for the lone congressional seat of San Juan City.
The actor, who is now a resident of Brgy. Little Baguio, San Juan, announced his political plans during the proclamation rally of his new party, the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino, which was founded by deposed president now incumbent Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada.
Manzano faces a formidable foe in incumbent San Juan congressman Ronaldo "Ronny" Zamora.
Though Zamora has yet to file his COC, members of his camp said he would indeed run for a third and last term.
Zamora will run under the banner of President Rodrigo Duterte's PDP-Laban.
Manzano first entered the political arena as vice mayor of Makati from 1998 to 2001.
In 2004, he was named chairman of the Optical Media Board, where he served for 5 years.
He failed in last two attempts to return to public office – as vice president in 2010 and as senator in 2016.
He introduced by former senator Jinggoy Estrada during their party's proclamation rally in San Juan.
