ILOCOS SUR, Philippines – Shortly before the period for filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) closed on Wednesday afternoon, October 17, congresswoman Imelda Marcos ceased being the uncontested nominee for governor of Ilocos Norte.

Jesus Arimbuyotan, former chairperson of Barangay Bengcag in Laoag City, filed his COC for governor under PDP-Laban. 

Imelda, currenly representative of the province’s second district, earlier filed her candidacy through lawyer Roxanne Castro. 

She is seeking to replace her oldest daughter, Governor Imee, who is is running for senator

Imelda’s running mate is her grandson, Imee’s son, Matthew Manotoc, who is currently a provincial board member. – Rappler.com
