MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Saturday, January 26, released the list of organizations that seek to participate in the party-list elections in 2019.
“The following are the last remaining names of Party List organizations that have filed Manifestations of Intent to Participate in the 2019 National and Local Elections,” Comelec spokesman James Jimenez announced in a statement on Saturday.
Around 134 groups will vie for 59 seats allotted for the party list in the House of Representatives – trimmed from the 185 organizations that sought to enter the 2019 party-list race during the filing of candidacies in October 2018.
“Note that this NOT the final list. The number assignments however, are final,” Jimenez added.
In Comelec’s list, there are two numbers for each party list: one for their order of appearance on the list, and the other inside parentheses representing the number they drew in the party-list raffle in December 2018.
