Dela Rosa confident of PMA alumni support for Senate bid
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – Former top cop Ronald dela Rosa said on Saturday, February 16, that he does not need to campaign among his fellow Philippine Military Academy (PMA) alumni to get their votes in the coming senatorial elections.
Dela Rosa, who was among the PMA alumni gathered in this city to attend the annual alumni homecoming, made the statement when asked about the PMA appeal to politicians not to use the event to campaign.
“‘Di ko naman kailangang kampanyahin ang kapwa kong PMAer. Siguradong may boboto sa akin kaya hindi na ako mangangampanya dito (I don’t need to campaign among my fellow PMA alumni. For sure, there will be votes for me, so I don't need to campaign here,” Dela Rosa said in an ambush interview at the PMA headquarters in Fort Gregorio H. del Pilar.
He added: “Kahit anong discourage nila, hindi na lang ipa[pa]kita ng mga PMA-er na iboboto nila ako, na they are partisan to me. Nasa puso ‘yan eh, ‘di yan mawala (No matter how hard they discourage them, the alumni just wouldn't show they will vote for me, that they are partisan to me. That’s in the heart, it will always be there)."
Dela Rosa is a member of PMA Sinagtala Class of 1986 which is said to be the "ruling" PMA class in the Philippine National Police as its members hold most of the top PNP posts. – Rappler.com
