Dela Rosa: I've never crafted laws but I've implemented countless
MANILA, Philippines – Former police chief Ronald dela Rosa again addressed his lack of experience in legislation during his campaign speech in Malabon City with the rest of the Hugpong ng Pagbabago candidates.
The architect of the infamous "Oplan TokHang" said he may not have crafted any law, yet he has implemented countless laws and it's this experience he will bring with him to the Senate if he wins in May.
(Senator Estrada has done much legislation while Bato has done zero, none yet. But remember this, I cannot count how many laws I've implemented in my 33 years being an enforcer of the law.)
Duterte's first police chief also said he had put his life on the line when implementing laws.
(As I implemented these laws, I always risked my life. Not only my life but the lives of my family who are always under threat because of the syndicates I clash with.)
The newbie senatorial bet says it's precisely his kind of experience that will inform future laws he would help craft, especially laws related to peace and order.
(That's where I will continue this, in making laws, where we will strengthen the law enforcement community so we can end this problem of illegal drugs and we can attain a drug-free Philippines.)
Dela Rosa, who served as Bureau of Corrections chief after his time heading the Philippine National Police, is among the few new faces in the Senate race who have broken into the Magic 12 in recent senatorial surveys. – Rappler.com
