Abalos continues reign as Mandaluyong mayor
MANILA, Philippines – Reelectionist Mandaluyong City Mayor Carmelita "Menchie" Abalos has won a second term, beating challenger Florencio Solomon by a landslide in the 2019 midterm elections.
Full transmitted votes in the morning of Tuesday, May 14, showed Abalos 128,661 votes while Solomon, an independent candidates, got 8,589 votes.
Abalos is under the PDP-Laban slate. She first ran for mayor in 2016, replacing her husband Benjamin Abalos Jr who had served as Mandaluyong congressman and long-time mayor of the city. (READ: WINNERS: 2019 local elections in the Philippines) – Rappler.com
