PRC cancels physicians board exams in Metro Manila for September

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on Thursday, September 9, announced the cancellation of the Physicians Licensure Examination (PLE) scheduled on September 11, 12, 18, and 19 in Metro Manila.

“The PRC requests the public’s utmost understanding and cooperation as it complies with the guidelines set forth by [the] Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases,” the PRC said in a statement.

The PRC did not specify the reason for the cancellation, but this development comes after calls from student groups to postpone the board exams due to the raging pandemic. Metro Manila is under the high-risk classification for COVID-19.

Board exams scheduled on the same dates in Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legaspi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga will still push through, the PRC said.

“Affected examinees in NCR may take the next succeeding examination without forfeiture of their examination fees,” the PRC said.

Aside from the PLE, the PRC said the Qualifying Assessment for Foreign Medical Professionals scheduled on September 13 and 20 in Metro Manila has also been canceled. – Rappler.com
