A local radio disc jockey was shot dead in Tagbilaran City in Bohol on Saturday, March 27.

Rizalino “Inday Ruping” Torralba, 45, was allegedly shot by the suspect, Andrew Fontreras, using a .45 caliber gun around 10 pm Saturday at a local inn, according to Tagbilaran City police.

Inday Ruping was a known radio personality in Tagbilaran City and a faculty member of the University of Bohol.

Fontreras eventually reported the incident on Sunday morning, March 28, and surrendered to the police.

The police said Fontreras had told them that Inday Ruping grabbed his gun that was on the bed and fired it accidentally, killing herself.

The initial investigation also disclosed that Fontreras left their room at around 11 pm Saturday.

The Tagbilaran police said they couldn’t establish a specific motive yet, but they had already filed a murder complaint against Fontreras.

“The investigation is still ongoing, and we still have witnesses to interview so we can establish a certain motive yet,” Police Lieutenant Colonel Mary Peralta, Tagbilaran City police chief, said in a phone interview with Rappler.

According to police, Fontreras worked as a driver for Inday Ruping. – Rappler.com
