In the male-dominated Philippine National Police (PNP), it is rare to see women in leadership positions.

An indication that this is about to change is the first-ever female chief of police in Metro Manila – Colonel Angela Rejano.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) appointed Rejano as Malabon City police chief. She assumed the post on October 15, in a ceremony attended by Malabon Mayor Antolin “Lenlen” Oreta.

Rejano is a graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Kapanalig Class of 1997.

Before becoming a commander in Metro Manila, Rejano served as commander in the provinces and was the chief of the PNP’s Anti-Violence Against Women and Children division.

In this Rappler Talk, police reporter Rambo Talabong asks Rejano about her trailblazing career.
