Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque once again made waves on social media after netizens made memes of him inviting tourists to visit Boracay Island.
Roque recently visited the famous beach after it reopened to tourists from areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) starting October 1.
The Presidential Spokesman held a number of regular Palace briefings from Boracay, and also shared a photo of himself in swimming attire enjoying the beach’s white sand and blue waves.
His official Facebook page also posted a video, which almost looked like an official tourism advertisement. He was seen in various areas of the island.
But what caught the attention of Filipinos online was a set of photos posted by News5, where Roque was seen with outstretched arms, standing in front of the shore, and inviting tourists to the island.
Netizens were quick to make memes of the Spokesman, placing him in different stills and images. Roque posted a number of these memes on his official Facebook page on Wednesday morning, October 7.
“Akala ‘nyo ‘di ko nakikita. Tawa lang kayo,” he wrote.
(Do you think I don’t see [these memes]? Just laugh.)
Roque’s Facebook post has about 159,000 reactions and 118,000 shares as of 12 pm on Thursday, October 8.
Here are the memes Roque shared on his Facebook page, along with his captions for every photo:
